Based in Vancouver, Marie Khouri’s beautiful works represent not only her vision, but her life — one that has been full of cultural diversity. Born in Egypt, and raised in Lebanon, she has also spent time living in Spain, Italy, Canada, and France (where she received formal schooling). Sitting beautiful in both the art and design worlds, Khouri’s sculpturs blend and extend metaphors of language, form and the body—deeply personal and and political; affected by the complex histories of the Middle East. Evocative and beautiful, each sculpture is formed with a distinctive hands-on approach, using traditional sculpting techniques, alongside contemporary innovations in material and building standards.
